Electroliquid Aggregation

“Why still speak of the real and the virtual, the material and immaterial? Here these categories are not in opposition, or in some metaphysical disagreement, but more in an electroliquid aggregation, enforcing each other, as in a two part adhesive.”
Lars Spuybroek, [1998] Motor Geometry, Architectural Design, Vol 68 No 5/6, p5

Electroliquid aggregation here is about how antithesis's of each other actually form to reinforce each other.

In Lumion (in site) - Final Product

Above here it's clear to see the strong contrast in shade in a dark environment. One half is very black, while the other shows strong elements of white spotting. That contrast evokes the idea of Blacktown's aboriginal past. Though western settlers mistreated the indigenous community, this marker seems to serve as a hope of what could have been. A multicultural community, one that accepted each other without supreme dominance.

So as you can see in the above image, the tall block is being supported by the other fluid shape. Though they may seem opposite in surface and shade, they actually serve to strengthen each other. The tall block literally being secured by the other fluid shape. This evokes the sense of two separate communities coming tougher to support one another.

Above what we see is an embedding of the two shapes, the tall block sinking in and almost clawing into the other fluid shape.  This reveals a strong bond and connection between the two communities, hand in hand.

Textures on my marker in Sketch Up

The textures I ultimately chose:

Dark

Medium

Light

These are in total 36 custom textures that have a light to dark gradation. Six ideas, each with six levels of gradation.
